Putting your best foot forward, as they say, is one way of staying ahead of the game. One way to stay ahead in the fashion stakes these days is through foot tattoos. Fast becoming the latest must have accessory for celebrities and the style conscious, it is important to ensure you are happy with what you decide to have done.
The most important choice with any tattoo is the design of course, and with foot tattoos this is perhaps even more important. Once you have made the decision to have one, spend a good deal of time on your design. Don’t just like it; love it.
Some designs work exceptionally well such as; stars, flowers, fairies. If you are unsure, it may be worthwhile having a temporary or henna tattoo for a few weeks to test out the options.
Just as important as the design and imagery you wish to show the world, is where you will have the tattoo placed.
There are no limits regards where foot tattoos can be placed of course, but some areas and designs work better together than others. Elegant designs can also accentuate the length of your foot or the slimness of your ankle too; whilst others can have the opposite effect.
Light colors will perhaps look better on the foot, but may fade too quickly over time. Have in mind which colors you wish to go for, but have a discussion with your artist; use his or her professionalism. It is their job after all.
Having foot tattoos are amongst the most painful to have; be sure to remember this. Your foot will also in most likelihood swell for a while afterwards. Ensure you can handle this before going ahead with the procedure.
It is also important to understand that you will need a good deal of recovery time; where the foot will have to remain covered for at least 2 weeks. Try to wear open fronted shoes too, to minimize and instances of rubbing that could inflame the scar.
Absolutely without question do not expose the tattoo to any significant daylight, and most certainly UV rays for at least a month after the procedure.
By ensuring the design you have is close to heart, there is no reason why your foot tattoos cannot be something you look back on with fond memories for many years to come. Do be prepared for your friends to go right out and have similar though!
