It’s the same old story with curly girls. We get so bored with our hair we could scream. Cute short hair beckons. But finding the courage (and the stylist) to pull it off, well, that scares us to death!
Been there. Done that.
Sad but true, I was tried of the whole looking sexy thing. So much so cute appealed to me as a change. Yet the behavior of short curly hair can be hard to predict.
Actually there’s not a lot I can say about curly haircuts other than that. Because curly hair is, well, curly hair. Beyond that you simply want it cut correctly so it behaves and lays right.
Granted there is no particular style per se, but there are some things to keep in mind here.
For one, longer naturally curly haircuts are often layered. Reason being the lack of layers puts you on the fast track to triangle head. Which you don’t need.
Layers can also apply for shorter cuts though too. Like say a curly bob. A bit of layering can cut out some of the excess volume making it more easily managed at the same time.
Now some would tell you this bob style is the ultimate hair cut for curly hair because it is bouncy, light and oh so very carefree. It offers both the appeal of a carefree look as well as a carefree morning bathroom routine. Because they dry fast, are easy to style, and usually it only takes one box of color to achieve a color makeover.
Plus you can change your look by straightening it a day or two a week as long as you have a straightening iron that is up to the task. (Gets hot enough for the type of hair you have?) Giving you another styling option you may not have thought of – despite the hassle straightening can mean. Just don’t forget to make use of heat protectant products to keep from frying your locks.
Yet you may be mistaken for a walking cotton swab if your curly bob is cut wrong. Plus your curly locks may be too short for up hairstyles. And a pony tail may be problematic too. But headbands can still fill in nicely.
However you take these curly hair cutting tips, just don’t go too drastic when it comes to changes. Once your hair is cut short it’s short. Nothing can be done to change that anytime soon. But if you go easy with the scissors, the length can always be shortened more later.
Still it’s true what they say. When it comes to hairstyle ideas, the proper cut can transform your curls from boring or unruly to truly amazing.
