Think Before Getting Breast Implants

Choosing the right sized breast implants is a very personal matter but there are various things to consider. For instance, if you have small breasts to begin with, you may not have sufficient skin in the chest to carry extremely big breast implants. The result is thinly stretched skin over very visible implants most likely with an unnatural shape.

Breast implant sizing should also be considered in proportion to one’s body. For best results, look for a size that flatters your shape. Bear in mind that overly large, heavy breasts can cause an extra strain and pain in the back. Your doctor can give you a lot of ideas for choosing the right sized implant for you.

Make sure you choose a cosmetic surgeon with the right training and experience. You should look for someone who is licensed and board certified to ensure that he or she is qualified to perform surgery. Asking friends and acquaintances for referrals is a good way to locate a good plastic surgeon too. If they had a good experience, you will probably have the similar results with that surgeon too.

The first few days following surgery, you will have swelling, bruising, and soreness. You have to rest and take prescription medications to control the pain. But many women return to work and other activities in about a week.

During your recovery don’t raise your arms above the shoulders to avoid the tearing of the incision sites. The swelling will vanish in time but final results may not be visible until six months or a year following surgery.

The price of breast implant surgery changes greatly from doctor to doctor and across state lines. Expect a fee of thousands of dollars for your operation. But whether your fees are low or high actually depend on where you have it performed and by whom. Don’t forget to scout around.
