Why You Should Try Side Sweep Bangs

Sooner or later we all reach a point where we start to feel like our hair is oh so boring. Sure you would like to try something different. Maybe even experiment a little. But you’re just not sure what to do.

Well, how about the one minute makeover – bangs? No, I’m not talking the traditional straight across at eyebrow level bangs. That’s what everybody has. Rather what I have in mind is the more flirty side sweep bangs.

Side Sweep Bangs Defined: These are just regular bangs cut at an angle that then sweep across your forehead to one side.

Let’s discuss the three concerns that are typically brought up by those thinking of a new haircut with bangs.

What can stylish side sweep bangs do for your face?

What kind of hair works best with bangs?

What about the issue them falling into your eyes all day?

Now far as which face shape they work with let me go out on a limb here. From what I’ve see personally and with my friends, long side sweep bangs pretty much flatter every face shape. Although those with long, square, or angular faces might benefit most. But I believe you’ll find they can soften your features while minimizing that landing strip at the top of your face called your forehead.

Then the hair type best suited for bangs is all types. No, that’s true. But they do work best for those with straight hair that’s not too thin. You’ll also need to go with a side part and not have hairline cowlicks to deal with.

Next let’s deal with the pesky problem of hair falling into your eyes all the time. That’s right, getting the bangs to stay put and not annoy you all day long can be challenging.

First you can pin them in place or make good use of hair gel or mousse. I hope that’s obvious.

Don’t blow dry them straight down. Rather use a round brush to brush them sideways to train them to sta swept over your forehead.

Blow drying them using your round brush from side to side is another way to train them. Just flip the bangs from side to side as they dry to boost the volume needed to hold them to the side. If need be you can spritz a bit of hair spray for a hold that should last all day.

Whatever you do, don’t to let them dry on their own. Especially if you have wavy hair. Otherwise you’ll have to straighten them which removes much of the volume and body needed to hold them in place. Leaving you back with that whole hair-falling-in-your-eyes thing again.

All and all bangs like these are still pretty low maintenance considering. And trimming them at home just requires a sharp pair of thinning shears used to clip at most the last inch of hair. Just be careful not to trim too much.

In any case, side sweep bangs are ideal for those who want to ease into a bangs look. If it doesn’t work out they’ll grow out fairly quickly – minimizing the risk. So why not change your look with side sweep bangs?
