Best Technique to Do My Chosen Wedding Hairstyle on My Own, to Avoid the Expense of a Professional?

I'd like to do a low, side pony-tail, that tumbles over my shoulder w/ full large waves or curls, with a flower accent at the top. I have mid-back length, fine hair. Do not often use styling products or tools. Any techniques, products, tools you can recommend for me to be able to do this style myself? (and still have it look good lol)
