Orange Celebrity Blog Round-up 22 March 2010

What’s that? You were just saying the other day that it had been a rather long time since you’d seen a seemingly endless parade of outlandish and occasionally breathtaking frocks in a public place? Well, pull up a pew – you might just be in for a treat.

But first, Katie Price. Perhaps surprisingly, the model/relentless self-publicist wasn’t clad in a show-stopping dress when she showed up for an interview on This Morning. But she did apparently leave her mental faculties at home, somehow referring to new husband Alex Reid as “Pete” live on air. Now, we’ve no idea who this Pete fella is – he must be camera-shy or something – but no doubt Alex won’t have been pleased at the slip-up.

Enough of that, anyway. To the dresses! Mere mention of the phrase “Sex and the City” conjures up instantaneous images of couture galore, and sure enough three of the four SatC girls – sorry, ladies (let’s not pretend anymore) – showed up in Las Vegas for the ShoreWest film convention. Sarah Jessica Parker wowed ‘em all in a gravity-defying noirish number, while Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis also chose black (didn’t they ring each other first?). The threesome actually wore more colourful frocks that same afternoon, but the sight of all three in a row gave us a migraine.

Meanwhile back in Blighty, the Olivier Awards prompted various retina-scorching explosions of colour (wrapped around varied thesps, TV stars and the odd popstrel, of course) to turn up at the Grosvenor House Hotel. Melanie Chisholm caused a stir by wearing a dress once made vaguely famous for about 10 minutes by her former Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham, while Keira Knightley wore a cat-sickly Erdem gown and Rachel Weisz lost a Tiffany earring while posing in her Narciso Rodriguez number. Some people just can’t be trusted when there’s jewellery around.
