How Do I Make the Ends of My Hair More Layered?

okay so it is kind of hard to explain but i used to have long hair and i recently cut about 3 or 4 inches cut off. the ends of my hair are now just straight across and i want them to be more layered.

i like how her ends are more flowy and when i straighten my hair it is just flat at the bottom. how would i make my hair or cut my hair like this at home or what would i tell my hair stylist to do?

Suggestion:

I wouldn't do it myself because it is really hard to reach and you might mess up your hair.
Tell your stylist you want layers and show them how high or low you want the layers to be.
