(i wear my hair up, i'll never wear it down)
i've never had my hair this long before (2 inches). i know that's not long, but for someone who's lived their life with short hair, its pretty long, and i wanna grow it out this summer and experiment with some hairstyles. my hair is dark black, and i think its kind of wavy

imagine that but shorter and straighter up (though i don't wear the sides going back). i guess my question is what should i use and please give me any advice. as i said before, i've never used any of this stuff
Suggestion:
mousse/foam: builds moderate body & volume, good for fine hair because it doesnt weigh hair down, will hold for 6-8 hours in dry conditions, massage it into damp hair to highlight textural movement, or blow-dry it straight for styles when body without texture is desired.
Gel: create the strongest control for slicked or molded styles, and distinct texture definition when spread with the fingers. when brushed out, it creates long lasting body. firm hold gel formulas may overwhelm fine hair, this is not a concern if fine hair is molded into the lines of the style and does not get brushed through when dry. also come in liquid forms which are lighter.
Pomade/wax: add considerable weight to the hair by causing strands to join together, showing separation in the hair. used on dry hair, this makes the hair very easy to mold. allows greater manageability. should be used sparingly on fine hair because of the weight.as a man's grooming product, pomade is excellent on short hair.

Why don't you try a Hair-elastic, maybe from Sonicare or Maybelline? A hair would not be appropriate for that
try redken 'rewind' it is a styling paste with good hold but will not look oily or greasy,,or another good product is american crew fiber ,,,use a paste or a product that looks and feels like a soft toothpaste, not vaseline or gel,,style it with your fingers not a comb and it will have lots of texture
AXE hair products are awesome. i use the pomade but all are worth trying. i've tried gels and mousse in the past and nothing's compared to the AXE stuff yet
