Men's Hairstyle Help?

Hi, I am going for a haircut next week. I want to get a haircut with bangs/fringes and short hair on the top/back/sides that I can gel. I was wondering what clipper guard # should be used for this and would this even look good? It will be really helpful if you guys can put links to pictures of similar hairstyles to the one I described. And also describe how much hair is left with each clipper guard because I don't really know how 1/4 or 1/2 inch of hair looks like. Thank you!

I have a similar hair cut. I have longer bangs, but a clipped back and sides, with a textured and semi-short top. My hair stylist uses a #4 guard on the sides and back and then just uses scissors to texture the top.
