What Number Should I Ask for to Get These Types of Haircuts?

I always have an idea every time I go to the barbershop. Like short Ivy league type of haircut, really, really short on the sides and back and a little longer on top, but still quite short. I always guess the numbers, usually 1 for around the ears and at the bottom of the back of my head, then 2 for the rest of the sides and back, then either 4 or 5 for the top….except it always seems to turn out looking more like a buzz cut than anything.

Suggestion:

Bring a picture into the barbershop and tell them thats what you want, they should be able to figure it out.
