Can Gel and Freeze Spray Make Very Short, Poofy, Thick, Asian Hair Go Where I Want It To?

I'm going to cut my super thick, frizzy hair very short and I know that when I cut it short it will poof out and I'll look like a frizzy mushroom head, but then I thought I could gel it and use freeze spray to get it where I want. Would that work? The haircut is similar to Blake Lewis's here, but slants forwards more and more mohawk-y in the back –

Suggestion:

If you want it to stay, remain stiff, use gel, lightly blow dry and you're good to go.

gel never woks, but my short frizzy hair with tons of hairspray s good

Pinks oil moisturizer. It's more for Afro Americans but works great on frizzy Asian hair. It is a bit greasy tho so use when your hair is damp and sparingly. I used it and had great results.
